Surfing has recently gained popularity in Fuvahmulah. There is a strong local surf community some of whom compete in national level tournaments.
Thoondu is the best surf point for most of the year and it is the only beach break in Maldives. June to August is the best time.
There are no specialized surf schools in the island. But most of the guest houses can arrange surfing with a local guide.
